Spectacular views aboard the Bernina Red Train

The Bernina Express, also known as the Little Red Bernina Train, is the Rhaetian Railway train that starts in Tirano, Valtellina, Italy, and travels a route of extraordinary scenic interest, which passengers can admire in all its beauty from the special panoramic carriages with which it is equipped.

The convoy travels, in about 2 1/2 hours, a 61-kilometer rail route to St. Moritz, with gradients of up to 7 per thousand and touching the maximum altitude at 2,253 meters above sea level at the Bernina Pass.

The Bernina railway, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is also of special interest from an engineering and architectural point of view with its covered tunnels and galleries, viaducts and bridges: the famous helical viaduct at Brusio stands out among them all, as well as the Landwasser viaduct and the Bergün-Preda spiral tunnels on the section to Chur.
