A unique mountain farm

La Fiorida is a modern farm in Valtellina designed to raise animals in the utmost comfort, process raw materials at zero kilometers and cultivate the land with respect for nature. A quality supply chain enclosed in just a few meters.

Our new smart barn

The flagship of the La Fiorida farm is the new 6000-plus-square-meter barn housing 230 cows.

This state-of-the-art barn is designed to ensure the highest standard of animal welfare through the use of local sand as bedding, the presence of outdoor paddocks, and the use of the most innovative breeding technologies: milking robots, automated feeding, and computerized herd management.

Benessere alimentare e ambientale

Technology allows us to monitor in real time and take action on every detail of our barn:

  • The light and air conditions in the facility;
  • The health of each animal;
  • the type of power supply;
  • The quality of the milk produced.

Pure Brown Swiss cows, for even better milk

We raise 120 Brown Swiss dairy cows in our barn, as well as about 100 heifers and heifers.

The Bruna Alpina, which has been present in Valtellina for centuries, is a type of cow that guarantees excellent milk yields in both quantity and quality: every day we obtain milk with high fat and protein content, high yield at cheesemaking and ideal for making our cheeses.

Raising pigs and goats

In addition to cattle, we raise pigs (sows and boars) and goats (beaks and kids). The pigs are fed whey, produced directly on the farm from the processing of our milk, and their meat is processed in the in-house delicatessen.

The approximately 100 goats, of the Alpine Chamois breed, each produce between 3 and 5 liters of milk per day, which is used to produce artisanal goat specialties.

Zero-mile crops

We are also farmers: we work about 100 hectares of land, from which we obtain fodder for our animals-corn and hay, the basis of a quality diet-and fruit and vegetables that we serve to our guests.

Fresh vegetables come year-round from the greenhouses and gardens, we have a blueberry orchard where blueberries grow and are used in both our kitchens and our ice cream shop, and the herb field provides the flavors used in the kitchen by the cooks.

Cheeses and cured meats, our short supply chain products

Within the farm are two places dedicated to the processing of raw materials from the farm. The dairy, with traditional copper boilers, channels freshly milked milk from the barn to process it and obtain excellent dairy products such as butter, artisanal cheeses and dairy products.

In the charcuterie factory, thanks to the use of ancient techniques and knowledge, top-quality butchered meats become typical cured meats with a delicious taste, such as bresaola, slinzega and many others.

We are a sustainable farm

Our circular philosophy translates into environmentally sustainable choices with the aim of reducing emissions and safeguarding the environment and the land in which we operate. We are committed to producing and using renewable energy, adopt green technologies both on the farm and in the agritourism, and optimize farming techniques with a view to sustainability.
